Hello, I’m Clare,
I have worked as an Occupational Therapist for over 20 years and am a mum to three school-aged children. My career has spanned a broad range of settings including disability, rehabilitation, community settings and acute care. I have worked within the public system, not-for-profit organisations and in private practice. I have worked with many diagnostic groups and also across a wide range of ages and life stages including adults and more recently teens, children and families. I enjoy working in a family and client-centred way to assist clients to achieve their goals, grow as a person and live their best lives. I love that OT is all about removing barriers to optimal well-being and supporting participation in meaningful daily activities - what a rewarding role! No two people are the same and I feel OTs are well placed to provide individualised care as we consider a very broad range of factors when conducting assessments and planning interventions.
My particular area of interest is the reciprocal relationship between health and the natural world. I have completed additional training in nature-based therapy and love nothing more than conducting therapy and/or group sessions in the outdoors as this has wonderful benefits for physical, cognitive and emotional well-being.
